Grilled tofu steaks with onions and mushrooms

Ingredients

4 tsp , divided olive oil

2 medium , thinly sliced uncooked onion(s)

8 oz , cremini or white, sliced fresh mushroom(s)

1 tsp , leaves fresh thyme

3 tsp , divided steak seasoning

14 oz , drained extra firm tofu

1/4 tsp table salt

Directions

In large nonstick skillet, heat 2 tsp oil over medium. Add onions and cook, stirring frequently, until lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Add mushrooms, thyme, and 1 tsp steak seasoning. Cook, stirring frequently, until mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes.

Brush grill pan with remaining 2 tsp oil and heat over medium. Halve tofu lengthwise, then halve crosswise to make 4 thick slices. Sprinkle tofu with salt and remaining 2 tsp steak seasoning. Cook tofu until browned and heated through, about 3 minutes per side. Top tofu steaks with onions and mushrooms before serving.
